Tyrese Gibson wants to play Green Lantern
Actor-singer Tyrese Gibson has apparently taken a page from his social media-loving Fast & Furious co-star Vin Diesel's playbook to lobby for a comic book movie role. Gibson has been working on TRANSFORMERS and FAST AND FURIOUS franchises for some time now and seems he wants to establish himself in another successful franchise. We all know he is more than capable of donning the green tights and his comedic and action chops can't be questioned. What everyone will be asking is whether he can handle the lead and I think it's a moot question. If Ryan Reynolds can do it Tyrese sure as hell can too. The Transformers star has posted not one or two, but six additional fan art pieces to his Instagram with captions that further express his interest in the Emerald Crusader's cinematic reboot at Warner Bros. Tyrese wrongly recited the Green Lantern oath and it seems for some 'Fans' of the Green Lantern that has become an issue that will affect his potential to play the role. Don't you just love the internet?
It has long been rumored that this version of Green Lantern will focus on John Stewart, as DC tries to distance itself from Ryan Reynolds, Hal Jordan in the 2011 Green Lantern, considered a failure by most fans and critics alike. With no immediate need to have a new Green Lantern cast, that may be why we haven't heard anything. Justice League Part 1 isn't in theaters until 2017, so Warner Bros. still has a little bit of time to make up it's mind, if it hasn't already. What do you think? Take a look at the art above and tell me if Tyrese doesn't look badass.Regardless of what happens, it is good to see fans expressing their opinions and in rare instances swaying the decisions of movie executives. Let's see how this turns out.
