Sleepy Hollow

I really wasn't sure about this series especially after seeing the promotional images with the headless horseman packing tactical arms and dressed in in colonial British uniform. I just thought there wasn't much they could do with this to interest me but was I wrong. Really wrong.

In the tale of Sleepy Hollow in this incarnation, Ichabod Crane is an elite soldier tasked by General Washington to kill a fearsome masked killer among the British ranks. After completing his task, Crane dies, only to be resurrected over two centuries later in modern-day New England. Now he must take on his similarly resurrected nemesis in a battle that will decide the fate of humanity.

The build up is impressive and there are tastes of a menagarie of demons and witches to contend with in future episodes. The Headless Horseman is relentless in his mission and the boss Demon is taking no prisoners. Lt Abbie Mills and Ichabod Crane work great together and don't take themselves too seriously. The action comes at a rollicking pace, just the way I like it.

Sleepy Hollow stars Nicole Beharie (Shame), Tom Mison (Salmon Fishing in the Yemen), and John Cho (Star Trek Into Darkness). Sleepy Hollow is written in part by Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman (Transformers), and will be overseen by Len Wiseman (Total Recall). So with this sort of pedigree what do you expect.
